More productions will debut in the coming months, and the live-action film Five Nights at Freddy’s is one of the most anticipated. It seems that those responsible want to bring more franchises to the big screen. In a chat with Discussing Film (via ComicBook), Jason Blum, founder and current CEO of Blumhouse Productions, spoke about the upcoming release of Insidious: The Red Door, the new installment in the popular horror franchise. At one point in the interview, he talked about the adaptation of the video game created by Scott Cawthon.

Blumhouse Productions, studio of Five Nights at Freddy’, wants to make more video game adaptations
Jason Blum expressed his hope that the feature film based on the indie horror title has a good reception and indicates that video games can inspire great movies. He cited the recent success of Nintendo’s adaptation of the game as an example. “Well, I think the right video games are a great source of movie material. I mean, did you see it even with [Super Mario Bros. La Película]. It’s a different genre, but it was an incredibly successful film. And I certainly hope that’s the case with Five Nights at Freddy’s,” the executive said. Currently, Blumhouse Productions is in the middle of a merger process with Atomic Monster, the production company of James Wan. Fortunately, Jason Blum assures that Wan is also a big fan of video games, so he hopes that there will be more adaptations after Five Nights at Freddy’s. Of course, he refrained from revealing a franchise that he has in his sights.
Five Nights at Freddy’s promises to be one of the biggest releases of the fall “James is actually a gamer and we have a games division at our company that we’ve worked on. I’m definitely looking forward to finding more games that are popular and that we could turn into horror movies,” said the founder of Blumhouse Productions.
