Luka “Aspire” Rolovic, a professional Overwatch 2 player, was recently accused of grooming a girl who was underage when they were in a relationship. For this reason, he was suspended from the team that will represent the United States in the Overwatch World Cup, a competitive event that will be held soon. On a Twitter account called ExposingAspire, a girl who preferred to remain anonymous accused Aspire of grooming practices. This happened from March 2022, when the girl was 16 years old, while the Overwatch player was already 20. In a document of more than 700 words (which is supported by screenshots and photographs), the girl assured who started chatting with Aspire through Snapchat and later moved to Discord. The testimony indicates that the conversations turned sexual despite the fact that the girl was only 16 years old at the time.

As explained, Aspire flew to Spain several times to visit the girl and even told her to move with him to America; something impossible because she is underage. He also mentions that Aspire was nervous that someone would find out about their relationship and call him a “pedophile.” Over time, the player’s behavior became violent and manipulative to the point that he decided who the young woman could talk to. In January 2023, when ExposingAspire was 17 years old, Aspire once again traveled to visit her. One night they had intimate relations and the next morning the player told her that he wanted to break up with her because he was underage. “I’ve been hesitant to go public with this for a while simply because I didn’t want to face potential backlash. It’s taken a lot of personal work to get to where I am and I’m proud of myself for finally being able to be honest about everything I’ve been through. I know I will never close what happened, but I am slowly healing and getting over the trauma on my own. I know that this post may be received with some doubts, but to the people who fully believe me, thank you”, says ExposingAspire at the end of the document. For his part, Aspen, an Overwatch streamer, assured that the Vancouver Titans, the team that Aspire represents, knew about this situation for more than 6 months. So far, the player and the team have kept quiet about the allegations.

For its part, the Overwatch World Cup Team USA announced that Aspire was left out of their squad. So, he will not be part of the tournament.
