This is how it was done:

The director, Alberto Vázquez:

The filmmaker explains that the project arose around the year 2010, but in a comic format. Years later they made the short film Sangre de Unicornio (Unicorn Blood) and the possibility of making it into a film arose. The director is interested in making a great war movie, a tribute to the great films of the genre that had influenced him, such as Platoon, Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket, all of this through a vision of a comic, of a classic fable. He continues talking about the challenges involved in turning it into a feature film, narrated from a personal perspective, which seeks to entertain but also to impact. The animation process: They explain how their work process was, being the most demanding project they have faced to date, being Also the most ambitious. For the animation they opted for 3D because it was easier to develop the action scenes and the movements of the unicorns. In turn, they opted to animate in 2D on a 3D environment, thanks to Blender.
