Marvel would be considering Ryan Gosling for the main villain in Thunderbolts

Noted scooper Daniel Richtman shared on his Patreon account that Marvel Studios is considering Ryan Gosling to star as a major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The role requires a male lead between the ages of 30 and 50, describing him as “a conflicted and powerful villain” and comparing him to an “evil Superman”. Rumor has it that Marvel is interested in Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgård to play the role in 2024’s Thunderbolts, and all signs point to the character being Sentry.

Who is Sentry?

If Gosling were to truly take on the role of the Sentry in the MCU, he would be embodying one of the most powerful characters Marvel comics has to offer, one that also ties in with the Super Soldier serum. A Sentry aka Robert Reynolds , he was injected with a serum that gave him superpowers as a high school teenager, but it was designed to be vastly more powerful than the serum that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America. After taking the serum, Reynolds became imbued with what is described as “the power of a million exploding suns”, leaving a trail of destruction behind him wherever he went. If he were the main villain in Thunderbolts, this team of reformed villains and anti-heroes would be very busy with arguably one of the most powerful villains in MCU history. Most of the Thunderbolts boast street-level abilities on top of characters as powerful as Ghost, so going up against such a powerful villain will be something that will bring a whole new level of excitement to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
