The first image of True Detective 4 has set off the alarms. One of HBO’s best series returns for its fourth season and production begins today on the one titled Night Country. While the previous seasons of the series have taken place in relatively warm places, Night Country will immerse True Detective 4 viewers in frigid weather, likely mirroring the chilling story that will unfold in Alaska.. In honor of the start of production, HBO released a new photo from the film’s set, showing an ice rink, the meaning of which we probably won’t know for a while. Night Country does not yet have a release date.

To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) must confront their pasts and the dark truths that lie beneath the Arctic ice.” Also starring in HBO’s True Detective 4 John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, Isabella Star Lablanc, and Joel D. Montgrand. Issa López acts as showrunnerwriter, director (all episodes) and executive producer. Why is this one of the best series on the platform? True Detective premiered in 2014 and it was a massive success, with its mysterious storytelling and compelling performances that made it one of the most talked about series of the spring television season, with subsequent seasons choosing to explore an anthology route rather than a full-length narrative. Given the success of the first season, the second season of the series struggled to replicate that cultural significance in 2015, while the third season didn’t premiere until 2019. We’ll see how True Detective 4 does on HBO because there’s a lot of anticipation.
