Why is Avatar 2 going to have such a long run? James Cameron’s director explains the controversial decision about his feature film.
James Cameron has explained why Avatar 2 lasts so long. While the first film in the series was already a long one, the next installment will be an even richer and more layered experience, lasting over three hours.
The filmmaker’s statements about the second part
Since the first film laid the foundation for the entire franchise, while also balancing character development with spectacle, director James Cameron recently detailed that Avatar 2 will delve much deeper into the characters of the narrative, which will allow an even richer experience. We’ll know for sure when the sequel hits theaters on December 16. “The goal of Avatar 2 is to tell an extremely compelling story on an emotional basis,” James Cameron Cameron told Total Film. “I would say the emphasis in the new movie is more on the characters, more on the story, more on the relationships, more on the emotion. In the first film we don’t spend as much time on relationships and emotions as in the second, and it’s a longer film, because there are more characters to attend to. There is more history to serve.” The excitement of returning to Pandora is in the air! This explanation should excite fans of the series, as the original film focused more on the conflict between the settlers and the Na’vi species from Pandora. Avatar 2 will completely immerse the audience in the world of Pandora. After 14 years of storytelling, audiences will be able to catch up with Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and their family, though focusing on one family and coming from The Walt Disney Company, Cameron promised this isn’t the traditional family movie.Share0
