The director of Black Panther 2 has revealed that Tenoch Huerta’s performance as Namor is inspired by Terminator 2 (1991).
Ryan Coogler was in charge of the first installment of 2018 and now repeats with Black Panther 2a very emotional story where Wakanda must deal with the loss of the King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and will face the underwater nation led by Namor (Tenoch Huerta). The director has revealed the inspiration behind this character and has mentioned a science fiction classic as it is Terminators 2 by James Cameron. In a recent interview with Collider, Ryan Coogler has given very interesting details about Black Panther 2. Because the leads may have the same goals as Namor, but they have such different approaches that the clash is inevitable. “I think of them as, you know, this is a character that will conflict with my lead. And it would be interesting if they want the same things, but because of who they are and what shaped them, they want to get those things in different ways and their means conflict with each other. And it reaches a critical point. That’s how the movies I like are structured.” “Terminator 2 is a big inspiration for this movie. A great moment. And you think about what T-1000 wants and what Arnold Schwarzenegger’s robot (T-800) wants. They both want John Connor, but T-1000 wants to kill him, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character wants to protect him. That’s the movie. And I look at him like this and he also tries to spend time with them. Not too much, you know what I’m saying? But enough so that you understand where they come from and that you believe them when they make threats to you.” he concluded Ryan Coogler. The movie Black Panther 2 will be released on November 11, 2022.
