DC has renewed its dome at Warner Bros Discovery, with James Gunn, and Peter Safran, but there was another option, Kevin Feige himself

If there is something that has been maintained throughout the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is the leadership of Kevin Feige. The president of Marvel Studios has helped guide dozens of projects and is responsible for turning the MCU into the mega-franchise it is today, and one that many studios want to emulate. The DC Universe, on the other hand, has never had the same leader guiding the vision for the franchise. With many movements in that position, and with a not very defined vision of what they want for the DCU. The Warner Bros. Discovery merger has caused a lot of changes behind the scenes, and the company has been looking for someone to be Kevin Feige’s counterpart to help oversee the future of DC. The studio recently found those people in the director of suicide squad, James Gunn, and producer Peter Safran. But now we’ve discovered that Warner Bros. had Marvel Studios’ own head Kevin Feige in mind as a first choice. According to Neil Turitz in Above the Line, Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav approached none other than Kevin himself. Feige to lead the DC Universe earlier this year. Turitz writes that during Zaslav’s search for a leader for DC similar to Kevin Feige’s role at Marvel. He himself asked the Marvel Studios executive if he would be interested, to which Feige politely gave him a negative.

Feige even considered signing for DC

It was previously reported that Feige once considered switching from Marvel to DC due to frustrations he was experiencing with previous Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter at the time. However, this move never came about after Feige received a promotion at Marvel in 2015. It’s easy to see why Feige would be an excellent choice to oversee DC, having built the MCU into the multi-billion dollar franchise it is today. However, with at least three more phases of Marvel movies and series under his wing, it’s easy to see why Feige would turn down Zaslav’s offer. With Gunn and Safran at the helm of the DCU, hopefully the best of the company could be to come Given Gunn’s previous roles at both DC and Marvel, many were quick to conclude that the director has a rivalry with Kevin Feige. However, Gunn was quick to address these concerns, saying that he “loves” Feige and that the Marvel boss was the first person he told of his offer for the new role at DC. Feige also ruled out any conflict between them, saying that he will be “first in line” for any DC project Gunn oversees. What do you think? Should I have accepted the offer?
