The editorial Shueisha issued a press release announcing that the manga written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, HUNTER x HUNTERwill resume in the October 24 edition of the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump, after more than three years and eleven months of suspension due to the author’s health. This announcement was accompanied by the cover of the thirty-seventh compilation volume of the work, which will be released on November 4 in Japan, after more than four years since the publication of the most recent volume of the work. This new book will include chapters 381 to 390 of this story.
The manga began publication in March 1998 in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from the publisher Shueishaless than a year after the start of the publication of one piece. Yoshihiro Togashi has taken numerous long breaks from publishing HUNTER x HUNTER since 2006, some of which were due to illness and chronic back pain, while the reasons for others were never disclosed.
HUNTER x HUNTER Synopsis
HUNTER x HUNTER is set in a world where hunters exist to perform all kinds of dangerous tasks, such as capturing criminals and bravely searching for lost treasures in uncharted territories. Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become the best hunter he can be in hopes of finding his father, who was a hunter and abandoned his family long ago. However, Gon soon realizes that the path to achieving his goals is far more challenging than he ever imagined. On the way to becoming an official hunter, Gon befriends the spirited doctor-in-training Leorio, the vengeful Kurapika, and the rebellious ex-assassin Killua. To achieve their own goals and wishes, the four of them together take the Hunter Exam, known for its low success rate and high chance of death. Along their journey, Gon and his friends embark on an adventure that puts them through many hardships and struggles.
