Musk’s story with Bitcoin
In February 2021, Musk announced that Tesla had acquired $1.5 billion worth of BTC and that the company had started accepting it as payment for its e-cars. However, in April, the payment option was canceled due to controversial issues about Bitcoin miners and the environmental impact they were causing. Still, Tesla held onto his Bitcoin until recently. However, in the second quarter of 2022, the company shed 75% of its Bicoin, leaving only $218 million worth of BTC on its balance sheet. His coins sold for approximately $29,000 per unit, while the company had bought them for $31,620. In March of this year, the billionaire tweeted that he was not selling his cryptocurrencies, which at the time consisted of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin. It is unclear at this time if he kept all of his BTC.
