Editorial: Gaming / Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Instagram / News / Discord /Telegram / Google News The video game industry is in mourning, as it has just lost an important creative: Blizzard designer Travis Day, died this week at the age of 41. His sister Rachel Day released the sad news on her social networks, without detailing the causes of his death. Travis began his career in the industry in 2005, the year he started working at Blizzard. Since then, he worked as a designer and was part of the development of important company games. Several of his colleagues and studio members said goodbye to Travis on social media.
Travis Day, a designer with a great legacy
When Travis joined Blizzard, he held the position of Customer Service Representative. He then moved into the QA area and later became a game designer. He was involved in the development of such notable titles as World of Warcraft and Diablo III. Likewise, he was part of the team that worked on various expansions for both titles. After 13 years of constant work, Travis left Blizzard in 2018 to take a new step in his career as part of the Phoenix Labs studio, where he served as a designer for Dauntless. We also know that for a while he worked at Lightspeed LA, a studio owned by Tencent. Various developers said goodbye to the creative and offered their condolences to his family. “I am very saddened by the death of my friend Travis. We worked together on WoW for many years, and he was one of those people who made me feel goofy just being around him,” one of his Blizzard friends claimed. “My condolences. I recently watched one of Travis’ design training videos from his time at Diablo. Even though he is no longer with us, the knowledge of him will continue to teach and inspire people,” wrote Adam Jackson, creative working on Diablo IV.
