Isao Takahata had already directed the masterful and unforgettable film Grave of the Fireflies three years earlier for Studio Ghibli, before working on this film, which unites the world of childhood memories with ingenuity, care, dedication and a lot of emotion. linked to the always difficult jump to maturity. He directed, at just 35 years old, this beautiful and emotional story, which was the first of Studio Ghibli in which the direction was not in charge of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, or Isao Takahata, both being the founders of the company. Thus, the film delves into the beautiful moment of youth, where its protagonists will live an unforgettable romance for the rest of their lives.
