Last Wednesday the most successful franchise in history gave a lot to talk about after revealing the first close look at Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which made a very good first impression. However, it was not only positive news for fans, because there is something that did not leave Pokémon GO users happy. As we told you, today the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 took place, the new edition of the Pokémon GO event that is celebrated year after year. These types of events attract a lot of attention because they mark the debut of a new singular creature (this year Shaymin), in addition to the fact that there are very attractive bonuses, especially the appearance of shiny or variocolor Pokémon more frequently.

Fans were not happy with the appearance of shinies at Pokémon GO Fest 2022
What fans weren’t happy about is that while the spawn rate of these rare Pokémon increased during the event, it wasn’t a big deal, rather players found very few even after playing and walking around for the entire 10-hour event. As a consequence, messages such as “enable shiny” or “fix the shinie spawn rate” can be found in Niantic posts. It is important to mention that, as many players report on reddit, the appearance rate of shiny Pokémon was lower than that of Pokémon GO Fest from other years because many of the Pokémon that appeared did not have their shiny version available, so it is mandatory they would appear in their normal state despite encountering them dozens of times, in contrast to other years. However, many players criticized Niantic’s selection, as it included the starter Pokémon of Alola, creatures that appeared easily in the Alola Season, which has just concluded.

The appearance of shinies was disappointing at the Pokémon GO Fest 2022
One fan reported that he caught 1,086 Pokémon, of which only 7 were shiny, another fan claimed to have caught more than 800 creatures, of which only 3 were shinies. One more mentioned that in the event he only caught 9 in the 8 hours of the event; that is, around 1 every hour, when in editions from other years he claims to have captured between 3 or 4 shiny Pokémon. The foregoing is especially striking if we take into account that many participate in this event precisely because of the increase in the frequency of appearance of shinies, apart from the fact that a ticket for this year’s edition ($14.99 USD or $149.99 MXN) cost much more than the past ($5 USD or $99 MXN). The event will continue tomorrow, June 5, but, although the featured Pokémon will continue to appear, this second phase will be focused on Raids and the appearance rates of shinies will be boosted, but not as much as on Saturday, which in itself the increase will be felt something faint.
