In the trailer we finally got our first official look at Christian Bale in the role of the fearsome villain Gorr, the Butcher God. Certainly, his appearance is reminiscent of an antagonistic character from a video game franchise. A few minutes after the premiere of the preview, many users turned to social networks and forums to point out that Gorr’s look in the new Thor movie bears certain similarities to that of Quan Chi, the iconic Mortal Kombat villain who first appeared in the 1996 Defenders of the Realm animated series.

Will it be possible? Fans want Christian Bale to play Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat sequel
A reddit user highlighted the similarities between the two characters in a post titled “Christian Bale looks amazing as Quan Chi in the second Mortal Kombat movie.” Despite obviously being a joke, many people were surprisingly in favor of the idea. In fact, there were those who thought for a second that it was a real leak of the second film based on the video game franchise. Likewise, some users pointed out that they began to believe that the actor is a good candidate to play Shinnok’s henchman, after seeing his characterization as Gorr in Thor: Love and Thunder.

For this reason, we do not know which characters will be part of the new plot arc, so at this point in the game it is impossible to know if Quan Chi will have a participation in the first place. Either way, fans are now eyeing an actor who could play the evil wizard of the NetherRealm. Of course, we’ll have to wait to find out if that fan cast materializes.
