Disney and Pixar have unveiled a spectacular new trailer for Lightyear, a film that hits theaters June 17 only in theaters.
Lightyear will be the first Pixar film to hit theaters since the restrictions in theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the rest of the studio’s films have been released directly on the Disney + streaming platform. The film tells the origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy in the Toy Story saga, and who introduces us to the legendary Space Ranger who would end up counting on generations of fans. “The world of Buzz has always fascinated me ”, declared director Angus MacLane. “In Toy Story, there was just a glimpse of this Space Ranger’s story, and he always wanted to explore that world further.” ‘What movie did Andy see to wish he had a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ This is the question I asked when presenting the Lightyear project and I wanted to see that film. And I’ve been lucky enough to make it happen.” Chris Evans (Captain America) lends his voice to Buzz in the original version of the film along with Keke Palmer, Dale Soules and Taika Waititi who make up a group of excellent recruits. Peter Sohn is the voice of Sox, Buzz’s robot sidekick, and the cast also includes the voices of Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Angus MacLane, Annie Award-winning director and veteran Pixar animator, who co-directed “Finding Dory” in 2016, is the director of Lightyear. Galyn Susman (Toy Story Short: Time Lost) is producing.
