Editorial: Gaming / Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Instagram / News / Discord / Forums / Telegram / WhatsApp Last year Knockout City debuted, a multiplayer game that came under the EA Originals label. Although it is a proposal that many considered interesting, the reality is that it failed to engage a massive community. That forced changes to be made and this is why the game will become free to play, although Electronic Arts will no longer be involved. In a blog post, Velan Studios announced that Knockout City will become free-to-play on all platforms it will be available on. The change will not be immediate and will be until the debut of the next season. That content is expected to debut on June 1, 2022. Now, what will happen to those who paid for Knockout City? They will receive a loyalty pack that includes cosmetic items, experience bonuses, and 2,000 units of the in-game currency called Holobux. With the above, Velan Studio will take a new measure to draw the attention of gamers. Recall that the game originally debuted on Xbox Game Pass and was also part of PlayStation Plus in November.

EA leaves Knockout City

Another important change is that Electronic Arts will no longer have a say in the future of Knockout City. Thus, Velan Studios will dedicate itself completely independently to the development and distribution of its multiplayer. While the studio appreciates Electronic Arts’ support, they believe it’s a step they need to take in order to fulfill their vision for the game. “We couldn’t have introduced Knockout City to the world without the incredible support of EA Originals, but now that we’re going free-to-play, the natural next step is for us to take on publishing responsibilities and work even more closely with our community.” Velan explained. “We have exciting plans for Knockout City, and publishing in-house will allow us to realize our vision for the long-term future of this game. There is a lot to look forward to, because this is just the beginning.” Knockout City is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Origin and the Epic Games Store). It is also possible to play it on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S thanks to backward compatibility. You can find more about him if you visit his file or if you consult our written review.
