Some of them decided to join and form a new development studio. The company in question is Rebel Wolves, which will be run by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, a director of The Witcher: Wild Hunt who left CD Projekt RED last year following accusations of workplace harassment, of which he was found not guilty. Now, as part of Rebel Wolves, he will work with other former members of CD Projekt RED to take RPGs to a new level with his first major project.

Rebel Wolves wants to create a memorable next-gen RPG

Tomaszkiewicz is not alone in this new adventure, as he will be working with other prominent creatives such as Bartłomiej Gaweł (Art Director), Jakub Szamałek (Writer), Daniel Sadowski (Design Director) and Tamara Zawada (Animation Director). All of them have worked on The Witcher installments, Cyberpunk 2077 and other projects. The team is complemented by Michał Boryka and Robert Murzynowski, finance manager and director of the studio, respectively. His first project will be a AAA fantasy RPG. They will use Unreal Engine 5 for its development and will bring it to both PC and next-gen consoles. The plan is to create a saga, so they will work so that this first installment arouses the interest of lovers of the genre. “We are developing a video game that we would like to play the way games should be made. We want to evolve the CRPG genre by creating unforgettable stories and eliciting deep emotions, all while working as a close-knit team with a shared goal and ambition,” said Tomaszkiewicz.

Rebel Wolves will offer freedom and a good environment to its workers

Tomaszkiewicz and his colleagues know that good working conditions are essential to continue in the industry. So they will work to make Rebel Wolves a nice place for everyone. The studio was intended as a space where creatives can “rekindle their passion, where they can focus on their craft and see their love for you in an amazing and ambitious title.” On the other hand, they made it clear that their goal is to create great games, regardless of trends or numbers. “Our goal is clearly defined: to create memorable games, tell compelling stories and evoke visceral emotions. He’s ambitious, true, and I’m glad he is. Art needs ambition. I don’t want to create another game. I want to work on titles that people will remember”, concluded Szamałek.
